Man Convicted of Robbing Bank Near NorthPark Center, 2 Others in Corpus Christi

A 19-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to robbing banks in North Dallas and Corpus Christi last October, officials say. Markeist Daquon Reed of Wilmer was convicted of robbing a BB&T bank near NorthPark Center on Oct. 5 and two Corpus Christi banks — Value Bank and BBVA Compass — on Oct. 19 and Oct. 25, respectively. Reed also pleaded guilty to one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence for pointing an AK-47-style rifle at an employee during the last robbery in Corpus Christi, according to U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Texas.He was arrested during a traffic stop and law enforcement recovered the rifle and items that linked him to the robberies, officials said. Reed faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each robbery and seven years for the firearm charge, which would be served consecutively.
