Man Arrested After He Admitted to Fatally Assaulting 69-year-old Woman in Oak Cliff Home, Police Say

A man is facing a murder charge after he admitted to assaulting a woman who died after she was found with severe head trauma in her central Oak Cliff home early Tuesday morning. Officers were called about 6:50 a.m. to 2119 W. Illinois Avenue, where 69-year-old Telesfora Saldivar was found sitting on a couch with injuries to her head, police said. Public records show she lived there.Dallas Fire-Rescue took Saldivar to a hospital, where she died.Adrian Gonzalez, 35, was taken into custody at the scene, police said. In an interview with a detective at police headquarters, Gonzalez admitted to assaulting Saldivar, police said. Police did not specify whether Gonzalez and Saldivar knew each other, nor did they provide any details about what led to the attack.Gonzalez was booked Tuesday afternoon into the Dallas County Jail.
