Man Accused of Girl's Brazen Kidnapping in Fort Worth Now Faces 6 Sexual Assault Charges

The man accused of kidnapping an 8-year-old girl in Fort Worth last month now faces a slew of rape charges.Michael Webb, 51, has been charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and six counts of sexual assault of a child in Tarrant County, court records show.Webb has also been charged with kidnapping in federal court. He remains in FBI custody.The girl's mother called police around 6:30 p.m. May 18 to reported that a man had driven up to them as they were walking in a Fort Worth neighborhood. He grabbed the girl and drove off, she said.An Amber Alert was issued for the girl β€” although it was not delivered to radio stations because of problems with a fax machine β€” and she was found after church members spotted a car at a Forest Hill hotel that matched the description given by the mother.Webb was taken into custody by Fort Worth police.Several hours earlier, Forest Hill police had been called to the hotel and spoke to Webb after receiving a tip that the suspect vehicle was there, but they left after they didn't find the girl in Webb's room.Webb has been convicted of a number of crimes in East Texas, including burglary, drug possession evading arrest, terroristic threat and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  Continue reading...
