‘He Did Not Deserve to Die in This Manner’: High School Mourns 15-year-old El Paso Shooting Victim

EL PASO — Jaqueline Martinez remembers seeing then-freshman Javier Amir Rodriguez months ago in the hallways at Horizon High School.Those passing moments have filled Martinez's mind in recent days after Rodriguez, 15, was killed in the Walmart shooting that took 21 other lives.“I didn’t know him, but feel the pain,” Martinez, 19, said in Spanish. “We are a close high school.”Martinez, who graduated just a few months ago and is unsure of her plans ahead, was back at the high school’s football stadium late Monday to mourn Rodriguez, one of the massacre’s youngest victims.
