Love Field, DFW Airport Security Waits Peak Among Highest in Country as TSA No-show Rate Rises

Two North Texas airports saw security lines stretch to some of the longest waits in the country Monday as industry officials continue to monitor the impact of the government shutdown on airport checkpoint staffing.Lines at Dallas Love Field reached a peak wait time of 41 minutes on Monday, the second highest-mark in the country behind Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where security line waits stretched up to 88 minutes, according to data released Tuesday by the Transportation Security Administration.Love Field spokesman Chris Perry said the 41 minute wait at Love Field was an isolated incident unrelated to the TSA staffing shortages that have forced several major airports to shutter checkpoints or take other contingency matters. Love's maximum wait time for PreCheck passengers was only five minutes.At DFW Airport, the longest waits reached 25 minutes, the sixth longest in the country.The TSA data represents the maximum wait times seen on Monday, not the average time most passengers waited.  Continue reading...
