Longtime Fort Worth Cop and His Wife Die in Motorcycle Crash

A longtime Fort Worth police officer and his wife died in a crash near the Fort Worth Botanic Garden early Friday.The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Officer Michael Valdez and his wife, Mary, died after a motorcycle crash in the 3300 block of Trail Drive. The 44-year-old officer was pronounced dead at the scene and his 39-year-old wife died later at a hospital, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office told the Star-Telegram.Officer Michael Valdez had been a Fort Worth officer for 14 years, a spokeswoman for the police department said in an email. His latest assignment was in the intelligence unit.His LinkedIn profile says he was a petty officer in the U.S. Navy in the 1990s before working in Bexar County as a deputy. As a police officer in Fort Worth, he was a gang expert at the Tarrant County District Attorney's office and a task force officer for the Department of Homeland Security, his LinkedIn profile says.  Continue reading...
