Lightning Strikes Blamed for Blazes in Lewisville, Southlake

Lightning strikes were to blame for house fires in Lewisville and Southlake overnight, authorities said.No one was injured either of the blazes, which caused minor damage to the homes.The first fire was reported about 12:23 a.m. in the 3000 block of Mulholland Street in Lewisville. Two people and two dogs were inside the home when the fire began. The Highland Village Fire Department arrived to find smoke coming from the roof. The fire was mostly in the attic, fire officials said.About an hour later, Southlake authorities were called to the 2700 block of Derby Court in Southlake. That fire was also mostly in the attic, authorities said.The residents will likely be displaced for a day or two because the home has smoke damage, authorities said.The National Weather Service in Fort Worth was reporting heavy rain across Tarrant County late Sunday and early Monday, warning of the risk of flooding and high winds.Denton County still a flood advisory in place until 5 a.m.  Continue reading...
