License Plate Gives Away Dallas Man Suspected in 7 Rapes This Year

A suspected serial rapist was arrested after city cameras caught him taking a woman into his truck, raping her and throwing her out into nearby bushes in southeast Oak Cliff, an arrest affidavit said.Desmond Fisher, 28, of Dallas faces one count of aggravated sexual assault and is being held at the Dallas County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.He has possible links to at least seven other sexual assault cases this year, an arrest affidavit said.On Sept.12, a woman was walking in the 2100 block of Arden Road about 9:30 p.m. when Fisher approached her in a green pickup truck and offered her a ride. She accepted because she uses a cane and walking is difficult for her, the affidavit said.He drove to an empty lot at 3129 Persimmon Road where he threatened her with a screwdriver before strangling her, pulling down her pants and raping her, the affidavit said.The victim told police he pulled her out of the truck, tossed her into bushes in the woods and drove away, the affidavit said. She went to the hospital afterwards.Cameras in the area, which were installed by Dallas city marshals and city code enforcement, captured some of the incident and the truck's license plate, which was registered to Fisher.
