Legacy West's Tallest Tower Starts Construction Next Week

NE Development plans to break ground next week on the tallest building in Plano's $3 billion Legacy West project.Called LVL 29, the 29-story apartment tower will be built next door to Liberty Mutual Insurance's new office campus just south of State Highway 121.The $100 million residential high-rise has been in the works for more than a year. It's the tallest North Texas residential building outside of Dallas.Along with the apartments, the project will include a 7-story parking garage, fitness center, yoga room, pool and tanning deck, a bar and lounge."LVL 29 will become a landmark in the area as the premier high-rise apartment building in Plano. It will transform the city's skyline and stand out among a group of square buildings," Luke Harry, Project Manager for NE Development, said in a statement. "Legacy West is ideal for LVL 29."Step outside of the main lobby and you're surrounded by thousands of jobs within walking distance, and billions of payroll dollars."The sleek high-rise was designed by architects Humphreys and Partners and Henderson Design Studios.Hunt Construction Group is the general contractor.Formal groundbreaking for the development is on Thursday, a d the apartments will be completed in early 2019.The building will tower over the rest of the Legacy West development. The Liberty Mutual complex next door is 19 stories. And the nearby Renaissance Hotel will has 15 floors.The just-completed One Legacy West office tower is 15 floors.The LVL 29 is being build across the street from where developers are selling units in the Windrose Tower at Legacy West, a condominium project.Both of the residential buildings are adjacent to the Legacy West Urban Village, a $400 million mixed-use project that includes shops, restaurants, a hotel and office space.The first retailers in Legacy West Urban Village have begun opening their doors and the mixed-use development will have its grand opening in June.  Continue reading...
