KidZania Taking Flight in Frisco With Signature Piece Installed at First U.S. Location

FRISCO — Kids will soon be flying high with the latest in let's pretend at Frisco's Stonebriar Centre mall. The first U.S. location for the popular KidZania attraction is under construction on the mall's north side. This week marked the arrival of a signature piece — the front section of a decommissioned Boeing 737-500. Crews with Turner Construction and VCC spent several hours Wednesday moving the eight-ton plane part into place. "Ground control has cleared them for takeoff," Gregory Knoop called from the upper level platform as a rigged aircraft took to the air with the help of cables and a crane. Knoop is the chief development officer and acting chief operating officer for KidZania USA, which is owned and operated under the holding company E2W. Its headquarters are in Frisco.KidZania was founded in 1999 near Mexico City. It now has 24 locations in 19 countries around the world, including London, Tokyo and Dubai.
