Kaufman County Mother Stabbed as She Tried to Break Up Fight Between Her Sons, Officials Say

A Kaufman County woman was hospitalized Tuesday after her 19-year-old son stabbed her several times as she tried to break up a fight between him and his 12-year-old brother, officials said.Another family member called law enforcement to their home in the 900 block of Jesse Way, in unincorporated Kaufman County about three miles northeast of Crandall, around 4:10 p.m.The caller reported that the 19-year-old, who has not yet been publicly identified, was physically attacking the 12-year-old. By the time officer arrived, their mother tried to intervene and the elder son stabbed her multiple times, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jolie Stewart said.The woman was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where she remains in stable condition, Steward said. The 12-year-old was treated for minor injuries and has been released.The 19-year-old will be booked into the Kaufman County jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Stewart said.  Continue reading...
