Juvenile Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 55-year-old McKinney Man

A juvenile has been arrested in the death of a 55-year-old McKinney man who was shot after a fight in McKinney earlier this month, police say. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was charged with murder in the March 8 death of James Penegar. The suspect was taken into custody Tuesday and booked into the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center, police said. Penegar was shot when someone fired into a crowd of about 30 people outside a home in the 800 block of Maples Avenue. He was taken to Medical City McKinney, where he died. Police think a fight led up to the gunfire. The suspect is thought to have fled in a silver passenger car with two other people inside. Police asked for help from the public identifying any other people who may have been involved in the shooting. Anyone with information may call Detective Rimpel at 972-547-2811 or email trimpel@mckinneytexas.org.  Continue reading...
