SWAT officers captured an injured man who barricaded in a house Thursday evening after pointing a weapon at authorities who then shot him, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies and police officers responded to a call of shots fired in a residential area in the town of Godley, about 10 miles northwest of Cleburne, near State Highway 171. When they arrived in the 400 block of East Godley Avenue about 5:30 p.m., they were met out front by the man, later identified as 26-year-old Michael Ward Seddon, Johnson County Sheriff Adam King said. Seddon pointed a weapon at the officers, who, along with deputies, fired several times at him before he ran inside his house, King said. Sheriff's office negotiators used a loud speaker to communicate with Seddon and try to get him to come outside and surrender. After communication with him stopped, authorities sent in a remote control tracked vehicle equipped with a camera inside about 9:30 p.m. The Cleburne police SWAT team was able to use it to see Seddon lying on the floor in the fetal position. SWAT officers then went inside and secured Seddon. First responder began treating him for gunshot injuries before he was transported by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He'll remain there under guard as he's treated. No other injuries were reported. Continue reading...
