John Cornyn Visits Sutherland Springs After Passing Gun Background Check Bill

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn visited Sutherland Springs on Friday to discuss the recent passage of his bill to tighten the national criminal background check system.The Texas Republican authored the new law, dubbed "Fix NICS," after 26 people were gunned down during Sunday services at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs nearly five months ago. The gunman's criminal past should have precluded him from purchasing or possessing a gun, but the U.S. Air Force admitted it failed to report his domestic violence convictions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS.   Continue reading...
