Jared Kushner Heads to Dallas on Friday in Push to Revamp Nation’s Prisons

WASHINGTON -- White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner is headed to North Texas on Friday to highlight new legislation aimed at revamping the nation’s correctional system.President Donald Trump’s son-in-law will be joined by Texas Sen. John Cornyn on a tour of the Seagoville Federal Correctional Institution, Cornyn’s office confirmed. Mark Inch, the director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, is also scheduled to attend.The trip, first reported by The Houston Chronicle, is part of Kushner and Cornyn’s efforts to overhaul the criminal justice system. Kushner is the most high-profile supporter of new legislation from Cornyn that would require the Federal Bureau of Prisons to create rehabilitation programs for low-risk inmates to help lower recidivism rates.
