Irving Teen Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Plano West Student During Christmas Eve Drug Deal

An Irving teenager is behind bars in connection with the Christmas Eve fatal shooting of a Plano West Senior High School student. Damarcus Antwon Williams, 18, is being held at the Irving city jail on suspicion of capital murder. Irving police say Williams was taken into custody Thursday during a traffic stop. The shooting occurred just after 9 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 200 block of Red River Trail in Irving. Police say Brett Adkins, 17, of Plano went to Irving to sell marijuana. A fight broke out, and one of the two suspects pulled a gun, according to police. Police say Adkins was shot in the chest. He died at the hospital shortly after midnight on Christmas Day.
