Irving Police Have Person of Interest After Newborn Is Found Dead in Applebee's Bathroom

Irving police say they have a person of interest after a dead infant was discovered in an Applebee's bathroom trash can last week.Workers discovered the baby boy about 4:45 p.m. Friday while cleaning the restroom at the restaurant in the 1900 block of North Belt Line Road. According to police, a woman gave birth to the child about half an hour earlier, put him in the trash can and left the restaurant.Police said Monday that a woman who is a person of interest in the case gave a voluntary DNA sample.No charges have been filed because it is unclear whether the boy was born alive or stillborn, police said. The infant's toxicology report and the DNA test will both take several weeks to complete.Officers were reviewing surveillance video from the Applebee's.
