Irving Officer Kills Burglary Suspect Who Struck Squad Car While Fleeing

An officer-involved shooting left a burglary suspect dead early Monday in Irving.Irving police received a report of a man breaking into vehicles at the El Morocco Apartments in the 3200 block of Finley Road, near North Belt Line Road.When officers arrived around 1 a.m., the suspect got into a pickup and attempted to leave the scene, striking a police car and several other vehicles as he fled, police said.One officer opened fire, hitting the man at least once, police said. The man was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died.The man has not been identified, pending notification of his next of kin.No officers or witnesses were injured, authorities said.
