Instagram Feud Between Rival Rappers Led to Shooting That Killed 9-year-old Dallas Girl

A war of words between rival rappers feuding on Instagram helped lead police to the suspect in a tragic shooting that killed a Dallas girl this week.Nine-year-old Brandoniya Bennett lived next door to one of the two feuding men at the Roseland Townhomes on Munger Avenue. She was shot in the head Wednesday night as she sat on a couch in her home at the complex.The next night, 19-year-old Tyrese Simmons, turned himself in on a capital murder charge in Bennett's death, police said.Police believe Simmons went to the townhomes in Old East Dallas seeking out his rival for posting "trash talk" on social media, according to his arrest-warrant affidavit.Someone seemingly defused the confrontation before the men could come to blows, but two witnesses told police that Simmons threatened to "air this [expletive] out," or shoot up the place.  Continue reading...
