Infamous ‘Shingle Mountain' in Southern Dallas Gets a Good-riddance Gala From Artists, Entertainers

Tonight at 7 p.m. a group of artists and activists will come together at the South Dallas dump dubbed "Shingle Mountain" to celebrate the efforts of locals who successfully pushed for its closure. What the setting of the event lacks in charm, its lineup makes up for in talent: all-female mariachi band Mariachi Rosas Divinas, traditional Mexican dance group Alegre Ballet Folklorico and all-female Afro-Soul drum group Du Shekere are all set to perform.
