Hypermart Demolition Marks the Long-awaited Start of a New Era for Garland's Southern Entryway

GARLAND — Though Hypermart has sat vacant for a decade and its heyday as a retail wonder of the world is largely forgotten, the start of the building's demolition Tuesday morning marked an important place in time for many Garland officials.None more so than Lori Barnett Dodson, who said she felt her mayoral term was kicking off as the first wall on the 226,000-square-foot dinosaur crumbled.
