Hutchins Police Searching for Suspect in Stolen-car Reselling Scheme

The Hutchins Police Department is searching for a man they believe is involved in a scheme to steal newer-model vehicles and then sell them to the public with fraudulent titles.Police believe the suspect is involved with a group of others who are part of the reselling scheme in Hutchins that primarily targets Spanish-speaking victims. He is described as Hispanic, about 6 feet tall and weighing between 190 to 215 pounds. Images from surveillance video show him wearing a green collared shirt, a white baseball cap and jeans.The group uses websites such as Facebook, OfferUp and Craigslist to lure buyers looking for used vehicles, Hutchins Police Chief Steve Perry said.The vehicles that are resold are in good condition, Perry said, and buyers don't find out they are stolen until they register them.Anyone with information should contact Hutchins police at 972-225-2225 or dial 911.  Continue reading...
