How Some New Walgreens Pharmacies in the Dallas Area Are Ditching Retail, Helping Patients Manage Costly Prescriptions

In the Preston Hollow shopping center on Walnut Hill Lane, the small Walgreens store that opened last August often catches new visitors by surprise.“People walk in because Google Maps said, ‘Hey, a Walgreens is right here.’ But they're immediately struck. ... It looks completely different,” pharmacy manager Julie Caldwell said.Indeed, the usual merchandise one would pass en route to the prescription counter at the nation’s second-largest retail pharmacy chain isn't there.There is just a pharmacy, one in which Walgreens aims to bolster service by significantly narrowing its focus.
