How Inclusive Is Your Office? See How D-FW Companies Stack Up in LGBTQ Ratings

When Texas lawmakers debated whether to restrict transgender people's ability to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity, opponents credited the Lone Star State's big corporations with ultimately derailing a move that they said could have cost the state millions of dollars in business and tourism revenue. The Human Rights Campaign, a group that advocates for LGBTQ rights, recently found that record numbers of companies are taking steps to protect LGBTQ workers. Its 2018 Corporate Equality Index gives companies a score out of 100 based on criteria including whether their human resources policies include specific nondiscrimination provisions for LGBTQ workers, whether benefits are available to same-sex couples and whether medical coverage includes transition-related care for transgender employees.  Continue reading...
