How Domestic Violence Hurts All of Us

The past few weeks have been filled with heartbreak for America. Last Wednesday, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz killed 17 high school students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Not surprisingly, there are reports that Cruz had been abusive to his ex-girlfriend. Just days before that, we saw pictures of harrowing abuse endured by the ex-wives of White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter.And here we are again, singing the same song to a different tune, pleading that society realize that domestic violence is not a private issue, but rather one that affects all of us.Although the #MeToo and #TIMESUP movements have given victims a voice and solidarity with others, some women still fear coming forward with stories of abuse.
