A man told Irving police he was wounded as he exchanged gunfire with a man who broke into his home Friday morning.Police responded to calls of shots heard around 5:54 a.m. in the 1900 block of Senter Road, where they found a man in the street with a gunshot wound.According to Irving police, the victim told officers that two suspects broke into his house and he exchanged gunfire with one of them, who was found inside with a gunshot wound. The second suspect fled the scene, police said.Both injured men were taken to Parkland Hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.Detectives are conducting a preliminary investigation into the suspects' identities and the motive for the break-in, police said.Senter Road was closed between Vilbig Street and Oakdale Road near Nimitz High School while police investigated.
