‘Heroic' Good Samaritan Saved Alleged Drunken Driver Before Being Struck by Oncoming Vehicle, Witness Says

A Good Samaritan was fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle after she pulled over to help an alleged drunken driver who stopped his car in the middle of the highway late Thursday night in southeast Dallas.The alleged drunken driver lost control of his vehicle and spun out in the middle lane of eastbound U.S. 175 about 11:45 p.m. near N. Prairie Creek Road. Three Good Samaritans pulled over to assist the driver and get him to a median wall dividing the westbound and eastbound lanes.The Good Samaritan who first got to the alleged drunken driver’s car was fatally struck by a pickup truck as she searched for additional passengers, said Laride Conerly, one of the three who had stopped to help.
