Costco Wholesale Corp. has another concept and it's coming to Texas. The former Sam's Club at 8282 Park Lane in Dallas will become a Costco Business Center, according to a sign on the property.Costco has 18 Business Centers, but none in Texas, according to its website. Costco hasn't been reached to find out when the Business Center opens. This will be Costco's second store inside the Dallas city limits. It opened a Costco Wholesale Club in 2017 at Coit Road and N. Central Expressway. It wasn't clear earlier why Costco would put two stores that close together, but this one will likely draw from a bigger area.Sam's Club occupied the building from 1992 until 2011 when it moved nearby on E. Northwest Highway to a new store in Timber Creek shopping center. The Park Lane building has been sitting empty until last summer when Costco started work on it. According to building permit records, Costco is spending almost $10 million to remodel the 133,000-square-foot building and expand it.All Costco members can shop in the Business Center, but its focus is more towards the business customer with categories of beverages, candy and snacks, commercial appliances, disposables, electronics, grocery, hospitality, janitorial, office, restaurant, and tobacco, which isn't sold at regular Costco clubs.Another way it's focused on small businesses is its delivery option. Orders can be placed online by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and delivered the next business day or scheduled for future delivery dates of up to a week ahead. There's no minimum order but orders of less than $250 come with a $25 delivery fee. Lists are stored and can be reordered. The new location should take some heat off the North Dallas store which is always packed on the weekends and during weekday afternoons particularly.Twitter: @MariaHalkias Continue reading...
