Here’s Why the City of Dallas May Buzz Your Phone Monday Morning

If you’re in downtown Dallas at 10 a.m. Monday, you’ll probably get an alert on your phone from the Dallas Office of Emergency Management.The alert will say, “This is a test of City of Dallas Wireless Emergency Alerts. No Action is required.”The notification is a part of the Wireless Emergency Alert system, which allows cities and governing bodies to send updates about emergencies.Only people who are in Dallas’ Central Business District, or downtown Dallas, will receive the alert Monday. That will allow the Emergency Management Office to test targeting specific areas.Authorities can specify places across the city, but they chose downtown because of the number of people who are there during the day, according to the Emergency Management Office.  Continue reading...
