Here Are the Challenges Awaiting DPD Chief U. Renee Hall When She Returns

Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé Hall will return to the department Monday with a long to-do list. City officials and police association leaders hope that questions surrounding the chief’s absence for more than a month will be soon forgotten and the focus will shift to pressing issues such as violent crime, officer retention and morale. The circumstances of her departure in mid-July came with a surprise statement by the department days after she had not been seen in office, saying that Hall was undergoing major surgery.
