‘He Gets Out of My Apartment All the Time,' Mom Said After Son Was Found on I-20, Police Say

A Dallas woman is behind bars after her 4-year-old son was found wandering on Interstate 20 over the weekend.Sarah Marie Emrick, 32, was arrested Saturday on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child with the intent to return.Police were called to an apartment complex in the 8500 block of Willoughby Boulevard, near the interchange between interstates 20 and 35E in Red Bird, just before 3 p.m. Saturday.The 911 caller told the responding officers that she thought she had heard a crash on I-20 about 20 minutes earlier, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit. When she went to see what had happened, she saw a 4-year-old boy walking alone on the interstate.The woman told police that she retrieved the boy and called 911 after she took him back to the apartment complex, and that his mother got him a short time later.  Continue reading...
