Hazmat Team Clearing Scene After ‘suspicious Envelope' Sent to First Baptist Dallas

Updated at 10:20 a.m.: Revised to reflect that the incident was being cleared.Dallas Fire-Rescue hazmat crews were clearing the scene at First Baptist Dallas on Sunday morning after someone at the downtown megachurch received what was deemed a suspicious envelope.The incident was reported around 8:30 a.m. at the church in the 1700 block of San Jacinto Street. The church had Easter services scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.Hazmat crews cleared the incident around 10 a.m.Fire-rescue spokesman Jason Evans said there was nothing threatening about the letter, but it had been dropped off in an unusual location.First Baptist's 12,000-member congregation is led by Robert Jeffress, an outspoken supporter of and adviser to President Donald Trump.  Continue reading...
