Haltom City Police Searching for Man With Brain Injury and Diabetes Who's Been Missing for a Day

A Haltom City man with diabetes who has suffered a traumatic brain injury has been missing for a day, police said Thursday.Mario Almanza, 59, left his home in the 5700 block of Melinda Street Wednesday morning to walk a few blocks west to the PDK Food Store on Glenview and Denton Highway, his nephew told police.Security cameras at the shop show Almanza leaving the shop and walking south around 8 a.m., according to police. Almanza's nephew told police that his uncle gets easily disoriented because of his injury, but generally returns home without issue. When Almanza did not return home, his nephew called police about 8 p.m. Almanza has high blood pressure and diabetes, and his brain injury affects his short-term memory, police said.
