Halloween Decor Could Take a Ride as Cold Front Brings Gusty Winds to North Texas

A brawny cold front expected to sweep through the region overnight Thursday is right on schedule and packing gusty winds that could create havoc for outdoor ghosts and goblins and plastic jack-o-lanterns.The front will bring the autumn season's coolest air yet, with lows expected to drop into the high 40s."It's currently moving through western Oklahoma, not quite to Wichita Falls," said National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Fano. "Halloween decorations could certainly fly through the air."Parts of North and Central Texas could see wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour through Friday morning, with the potential for hazardous driving conditions. After a brief midweek return of pleasantly warm weather, Thursday temperatures are expected to plunge from the day's high of 86 to lows of 49 in Dallas and Fort Worth.Even with a bit of sun, "we're probably looking at a 30-degree high-temperature difference" on Friday, Fano said.Highs Friday will struggle to reach the 60s, with Saturday not much better. Lows both nights will descend into the upper 30s.Moderate warmth will return Sunday and Monday, with temps hitting the 70s before dropping off slightly again as wet weather begins moving through the region with a chance of thunderstorms through Tuesday night. Here's a look at what meteorologists at KXAS-TV (NBC5) have in the forecast through early next week:Friday: 54/46Saturday: 59/36Sunday: 74/38Monday: 78/50Tuesday: 62/50   Continue reading...
