Grand Prairie Woman Suspected of Burning Stepdaughter to Punish Her for Yelling

Grand Prairie police have arrested a 20-year-old woman suspected of pouring rubbing alcohol on her 5-year-old stepdaughter's face and then igniting it with a lighter.Dalia Jimenez faces charges of felony injury to a child after the incident that occurred May 13. The suspect initially told police the child had been burned because of an accident while lighting a candle, but after inconsistencies in her story turned up, she told police she lit a fire intentionally to punish her for yelling.The child was severely burned and needed medical treatment, police said. The girl's father was not there when the injury occurred and is not considered a suspect, police said. Child Protective Services has removed the injured child and a younger sibling from the home and both are safe with family, police said.Jimenez was booked into the Grand Prairie Detention Facility but has since bonded out.  Continue reading...
