Financial giant Goldman Sachs is increasing its footprint in downtown Dallas.The New York-based firm has exercised its option to grow its office space in the landmark Trammell Crow Center.Last year Goldman Sachs opened its office in the Ross Avenue skyscraper with more than 1,000 workers relocated from Irving.Now the company plans to shift about 100 people from its securities division and private wealth management businesses from the Crescent in Uptown to Trammell Crow Center, a Goldman Sachs representative says.The Crescent lease expires next year.Goldman Sachs also has an office in Richardson, which it plans to maintain.The company has more than 2,000 workers in the Dallas area and has been growing its employment in the area.Dallas is Goldman Sachs' third largest workforce center behind New York and Salt Lake City.Goldman Sachs is growing its office in Trammell Crow Center as renovations of the 1980s skyscraper are wrapped up.More than a year ago building owner JP Morgan Asset Management launched a $140 million renovation of the 50-story tower, which includes construction of a new retail and parking structure across the street.Work on the iconic downtown Dallas high-rise will be completed later this year.Redevelopment of Trammell Crow Center and leasing of the tower is handled by Dallas' Stream Realty Partners.Goldman Sachs is just the latest major employer to grow its operations downtown.Dallas' central business district is attracting a growing number of office users that are attracted by the increase in residential and retail space and new parks in the area.
