George H.W. Bush Apologizes After Actress Accused Him of Sexual Assault

WASHINGTON -- Former President George H.W. Bush apologized Wednesday after actress Heather Lind accused him of touching her inappropriately while posing for a photo several years ago. A spokesman for Bush did not explicitly deny the account in a statement to the Washington Post, but said: "President Bush would never -- under any circumstance -- intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind."In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Lind accused the 93-year-old former president of groping her as they posed for a photo taken during a promotion for a television show.In her post, Lind said she was "disturbed" by a photo of President Barack Obama and Bush shaking hands during an event in College Station to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief. "But when I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo," the post by the 34-year-old read. "He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke.
