Former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Monica Alonzo believes she was robbed in the 2017 election.Alonzo, who lost a runoff to Omar Narvaez by nearly 300 votes — about 13 percentage points — said she was the victim a vote harvesting ploy then that resulted in one man pleading guilty to a charge of illegally returning a marked ballot.No candidate’s campaign was ever implicated, and, as Narvaez noted, Alonzo “got more mail-in ballots than we did.”But Alonzo, who is back for rematch, is now banking on buyer’s remorse after the bruising battle over gentrification fears two years ago. She said Narvaez isn’t doing his best to represent Northwest Dallas and West Dallas and that area businesses and residents have asked her to run again. “They see our passion in this community for public service and they know that we know what needs to be done and that we have the experience, leadership skills and knowledge to be able to represent this district,” Alonzo said.
