Garland Parents of Seven Killed in Wreck on Way Home From Camping Trip

A Plano church community has rallied after a deadly accident left seven children without their parents.Scott and Jennifer Owen of Garland died from their injuries last week after they were in a wreck April 23 coming back from a family camping trip in Sulphur Springs, WFAA-TV reported."This is that family that spends time with their kids ... they were camping with their kids," said Craig Curry, the pastor of First Baptist Church of Plano, where the Owens were members.Two of their children, a 15-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son, are still in critical condition. Four others were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening.The oldest child, a 23-year-old man, was not with the family.Scott Owen died from his injuries on April 23. Jennifer Owen died two days later."I held their 7 year old who said, 'First my mommy, then my daddy. What are we gonna do?' All I could do was hold her and say it is going to be OK," family friend Joy Weber told WFAA.A GoFundme page has been set up to support the family, whose children range in age from 5 to 23."We feel there are people in our community that need to know that they could lend a helping hand," Curry said.The 23-year-old son now finds himself as the head of the family."We have all of these kids who are trying to grasp what happened with their friends and their friends' parents," said Fallon Curry, the pastor's wife.  Continue reading...
