GameStop CEO Mauler Leaves After 3 Months

Michael Mauler who was promoted to chief executive officer at GameStop in February is out. Mauler resigned for "personal reasons," the company said Friday. The resignation, effective today, "is not due to any disagreement with the company regarding its financial reporting, policies or practices or any potential fraud." But Mauler isn't entitled to any severance, the company said. Mauler, 56, was a 16-year veteran at the Grapevine-based video game retailer and most recently was executive vice president and president of the retailer's 2,000-store international division.The board appointed Daniel A. DeMatteo as interim CEO. DeMatteo is one of the company's co-founders and he will continue to serve as executive chairman and director.
