Fort Worth Teen Dies After Accident That Shut Down I-30 in Arlington

A Fort Worth teen died Tuesday night, a day after she was involved in a wreck that shut down traffic on Interstate 30 in Arlington.Cassandra Contreras, 17, was pronounced dead about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at John Peter Smith Hospital. The Tarrant County medical examiner has not ruled on her cause of death.Contreras was in one of three vehicles involved in a crash on the I-30 service road near Center Street around 5:30 p.m. Monday. A relative posted on Facebook that she and other family members had been headed home after a trip to Six Flags.Authorities have not released any details about other injuries.Adrienne DeJesus Hammons, a nurse at Medical City Arlington Hospital, wrote on Facebook that she stopped after witnessing the accident and worked to revive Contreras."I pulled her out no pulse not breathing blood pouring from her nose and mouth," Hammons wrote, saying that the girl regained a pulse after "what seemed like an eternity of CPR."  Continue reading...
