Fort Worth Man Who Tried to Run Over Officers With His Hummer Gets Lengthy Sentence

A Fort Worth man who drove a Hummer at police officers who were trying to arrest him has been sentenced to decades in prison.Victor Ortiz Gonzalez, 30, was found guilty Wednesday of two counts of aggravate assault of a public servant and sentenced Thursday to 45 years behind bars. He also was sentenced to 20 years for evading arrest.Authorities say Gonzalez stole a power washer and a concrete saw from a bait car on April 24, 2017, and a GPS tracker tipped off Fort Worth police to his location.After a short pursuit through the parking lot of an apartment complex's parking lot on North Normandale Street, officers cornered Gonzalez's Hummer H3 in a dead end.Gonzalez put the Hummer in reverse and crashed into the open door of a squad car as officers were getting out to approach him, pinning one officer between the door frame and the vehicle.Gonzalez got out of the Hummer and ran off after crashing into another car.
