Fort Worth Man Arrested for Arson in Failed Walmart Robbery Scheme

A Fort Worth man has been arrested for setting a fire at a Walmart store that caused an estimated $55,000 in damage.Gilberto Hernandez, 36, was arrested after surveillance footage showed him leaving the Walmart SuperCenter, in the 2400 block of Avondale-Haslet Road, after the blaze was set the morning of July 3.Hernandez confessed to the arson and said he had planned to rob the store's cash drawers during the fire.The store had to be closed the remainder of the day because of smoke and water damage.Hernandez is being held at the Tarrant Count Correction Center, where his bond has been set at $50,000.  Continue reading...
