Former Mansfield High School Running Back Dies in Crash in Duncanville

A former Mansfield High School football player who went on to play at the University of Iowa was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Duncanville. Police said Damon Christopher Bullock, Jr., was driving west on W. Danieldale Road about 4 a.m. when he hit a light pole, then got out of his car and walked into the eastbound lanes of the road where he was hit by another driver.The driver stopped, called 911 and stayed at the scene until officers arrived, police said. He was not intoxicated or otherwise impaired and will not face any charges from the crash.Bullock died from his injuries, police said. He was 25.Duncanville police are still investigating the cause of the initial crash, in which Bullock struck the light pole.Bullock was a running back at Mansfield High School and later went on to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2011 to 2014, according to a biography page for Bullock."Our Prayers and thoughts go out to the Family of Damon Bullock, former Tiger Running Back, who was Tragically killed in a car accident this weekend," the Mansfield football team said in a tweet.
