Former Dallas Security Guard Indicted in Slaying of 27-year-old Woman Outside Club

A former Dallas security guard was behind bars Tuesday after a Dallas County grand jury indicted him on a murder charge, over a year after the fatal shooting.Daniel Robert Taylor, 59, was working security at Kings Cabaret on Market Center Boulevard in the Design District when 27-year-old Shniquia Marquette Simington came to the club last March, officials said.Management asked Simington and three others to leave the club, and Taylor shot Simington in the head after they'd gotten into their car, Rev. Ronald Wright said at a rally in December.The commissioned security officer told police she opened fire on Simington after seeing her pick up a gun, according to a police report. He was not immediately arrested."This is an unjust act," Simington's aunt, Donnita Russell, told rally attendees in front of the Jack Evans Police Headquarters in December. "The City of Dallas [is] being careless about this situation, they're just not caring about my niece."Taylor had been certified as a security officer in Texas for over 20 years, and attended firearm proficiency training periodically, according to Department of Public Safety records.Taylor remained in the Dallas County jail Wednesday with bail set at $300,000.  Continue reading...
