More than 45,000 Dallas residents already cast ballots during early voting. Election Day polls opened at 7 a.m. Saturday and will close at 7 p.m.Nine candidates are on the ballot to become Dallas' next mayor. A runoff appears certain in the race with no clear front-runner. Donors have already given more than $4 million to the candidates in the running.All 14 council races are contested. In the marquee matchup, former Mayor Laura Miller is challenging three-term incumbent Jennifer Staubach Gates — the daughter of Dallas Cowboys legend Roger Staubach — in their North Dallas district. Three former council members who lost their seats in 2017 — Tiffinni Young, Erik Wilson and Monica Alonzo — are vying to win them back Saturday.Education issues will also be on the ballot.
