You can also follow our coverage on The Dallas Morning News' interactive politics website, The 85th.Senate Bill 4, authored by Republican Charles Perry of Lubbock, would ban cities, counties and universities from creating policies that prohibit their law enforcement officers from asking a person about their immigration status or from enforcing immigration law. Local law enforcement officials who violated the ban could be punished with a crime and the jurisdictions they oversaw would face fines of up to $25,000 for every day they were in violation.   Continue reading...
