Flashback: Early Activists Took Great Pride in Gay Rights Movement

As a reader writes in 1984, discrimination against the LGBT community in Dallas was historically not only commonplace, it was perfectly legal. College campuses were early allies in the fight for gay rights. LGBT students across North Texas stepped up to lead gay rights organizations in the 1980s and early 1990s. In a time where public sentiment was against them and prominent figures in the community were applauded for anti-LGBT rhetoric, these early voices helped pave the way for recent victories and continue to inspire subsequent generations of activists and allies.  Continue reading...
