Flashback: Cabbage Patch Kid Craze Led to Frenzied (and Violent) Christmas Season

It was the big question in the winter of 1983:After an incredibly effective series of advertisements, it seemed that the only thing Dallas kids wanted for Christmas was a kid of their own -- a Cabbage Patch Kid, that is. The Dallas-Fort Worth area, like the rest of the nation, faced a shortage of the dolls that year, and panicked parents went to extreme lengths to avoid disappointing their children on Christmas morning.
