Flashback: Buffalo Wings and Onion Strings Debuted at State Fair in 1982

Editor's note: Take a look back into The Dallas Morning News archives.It's almost that time of year. The State Fair is making its way back into town, which means it's time to devour all the crazy deep-fried concoctions they've come up with. This year, there will be beer battered beef jerky and chicken fried spam fries, amongst other things you may regret. But the idea of crazy state fair food has changed over the years. In 1982, sea dogs, buffalo wings and onion strings made their debut at the State Fair. Sea dogs were made of crab meat dipped in batter and fried (basically a corn dog), while buffalo wings and onion strings are exactly what they sound like and can be found almost any chain resturant.  Continue reading...
